built in the\u00a0<strong>15<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0century<\/strong>, in the\u00a0<strong>mid 1700\u2019s<\/strong>\u00a0it was acquired by the\u00a0<strong>Moretta branch<\/strong>\u00a0of the\u00a0<strong>Pisani family<\/strong>. Almost immediately the family fell into disrepute, when the second son\u00a0<strong>Vettor<\/strong>\u00a0fell in love with\u00a0<strong>Teresa Vedova<\/strong>, the daughter of a simple artisan. Since it was illegal for a\u00a0<strong>nobleman<\/strong>\u00a0to marry someone of a lower standing, the\u00a0<strong>girl<\/strong>\u00a0was sent to a\u00a0<strong>convent<\/strong>\u00a0to avoid a public scandal; however, the two lovers managed to meet in secret and\u00a0<strong>Teresa<\/strong>\u00a0became pregnant, later giving birth to\u00a0<strong>Pietro Pisani<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p><p><strong>Vettor<\/strong>\u00a0changed his mind however and wanted nothing to do with the affair and even chose a substitute husband for hapless\u00a0<strong>Teresa<\/strong>, who refuted him. The story ended with\u00a0<strong>Pietro\u2019s death<\/strong>\u00a0in\u00a0<strong>1847<\/strong>, who had become the last rightful heir to the\u00a0<strong>Pisani estate<\/strong>. The\u00a0<strong>palace<\/strong>\u00a0was then renovated and today hosts\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.venicecitytours.it\/en\/carnival\/carnival-balls-and-masquerade-parties\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>wonderful events and balls<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0during the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.venicecitytours.it\/en\/carnival\/3-fun-things-to-do-at-carnival-in-venice\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Carnival period<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-da72d62 elementor-widget elementor-widget-spacer\" data-id=\"da72d62\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"spacer.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-spacer\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-spacer-inner\"><\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-acbfcc4 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"acbfcc4\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Ca' Foscari<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ab704c7 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"ab704c7\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tThe suggestive\u00a0<strong>palace<\/strong>\u00a0that franks flanking the smaller canal is the\u00a0<strong>headquarter of<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Venice\u2019s University<\/strong>,<strong>Ca\u2019Foscari<\/strong>. It was built in the\u00a0<strong>early 15<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0century<\/strong>\u00a0and bought in\u00a0<strong>1452<\/strong>\u00a0by the\u00a0<strong>Doge Francesco Foscari<\/strong>, who governed the\u00a0<strong>Venetian Republic<\/strong>\u00a0for over\u00a0<strong>thirty years<\/strong>\u00a0with great success. He had it demolished and rebuilt by the Renaissance architect\u00a0<strong>Bartolomeo Bon<\/strong>, who finished the job in\u00a0<strong>1457<\/strong>; however, the\u00a0<strong>Doge<\/strong>\u00a0never managed to live in the\u00a0<strong>palace<\/strong>, as he died only a few months previously of heart failure, after having abdicated from his position.\n\nThe death was caused largely by the great pain for the death of his son\u00a0<strong>Jacopo<\/strong>, who was first accused of corruption and then of murdering one of his accusers. After many attempts to defuse the tense situation,\u00a0<strong>Francesco<\/strong>\u00a0remained inflexible before his son\u2019s pleas of intercession and was forced to send him into\u00a0<strong>exile<\/strong>\u00a0to\u00a0<strong>Crete<\/strong>, where\u00a0<strong>Jacopo<\/strong>\u00a0died soon after in solitude.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-76357dc elementor-widget elementor-widget-spacer\" data-id=\"76357dc\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"spacer.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-spacer\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-spacer-inner\"><\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Palazzo Pisani Moretta dazzles with Baroque interiors and Carnival balls, while Ca&#8217;
