It is undoubtedly the jewel of\u00a0<strong>Venetian gothic architecture<\/strong>. The\u00a0<strong>fa\u00e7ade<\/strong>\u00a0resembles a refined piece oriental embroidery, crowned by the battlements once covered in golden leaves. After passing through several owners, in the\u00a0<strong>1890\u2019s<\/strong>\u00a0the\u00a0<strong>baron<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Giorgio Franchetti<\/strong>\u00a0renovated the\u00a0<strong>palace<\/strong>, where he placed his extensive\u00a0<strong>art collection<\/strong>\u00a0as a gift to\u00a0<strong>Venice<\/strong>; this included\u00a0<strong>250 pieces<\/strong>, among which masterpieces by the likes of\u00a0<strong>Picasso<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>De Chirico<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Magritte<\/strong>.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-da72d62 elementor-widget elementor-widget-spacer\" data-id=\"da72d62\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"spacer.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-spacer\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-spacer-inner\"><\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-acbfcc4 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"acbfcc4\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Ca' Farsetti<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ab704c7 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"ab704c7\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>Ca\u2019 Farsetti<\/strong>\u00a0is a typical example of\u00a0<strong>Veneto-byzantine architecture<\/strong>\u00a0of the\u00a0<strong>late 13<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0century<\/strong>. Property of the\u00a0<strong>Dandolo\u00a0family<\/strong>, it was initially the residence of the\u00a0<strong>Doge Andrea Dandolo<\/strong>\u00a0in the\u00a0<strong>mid-14<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0century<\/strong>, a man known for his great culture and mildness, and a dear friend of the poet\u00a0<strong>Francesco Petrarca<\/strong>. At the end of the\u00a0<strong>1600\u2019s<\/strong>\u00a0the house was sold to the\u00a0<strong>Farsetti family<\/strong>, and in\u00a0<strong>1826<\/strong>, after the last heir had squandered the family inheritance, the<strong>\u00a0palace<\/strong>\u00a0had to be sold and became\u00a0<strong>Venice\u2019s Town Hall<\/strong>.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-76357dc elementor-widget elementor-widget-spacer\" data-id=\"76357dc\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"spacer.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-spacer\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-spacer-inner\"><\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-f3ceb33 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"f3ceb33\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Palazzo Grimani<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-517cb89 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"517cb89\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Ahead you will see a huge\u00a0<strong>palace<\/strong>, darkened by the passing of time; this is\u00a0<strong>Palazzo Grimani<\/strong>, currently home to the\u00a0city\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Court of Appeal<\/strong>\u00a0and once residence of the\u00a0<strong>Doge Marino Grimani<\/strong>\u00a0in the\u00a0<strong>16<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0century<\/strong>. The main\u00a0<strong>fa\u00e7ade<\/strong>\u00a0is still the one that gives onto the\u00a0<strong>Grand Canal<\/strong>, and the palace is striking because of its elegance, so much so that the art historian\u00a0<strong>Ruskin<\/strong>\u00a0called it \u201cthe noblest of all Venetian palaces\u201d.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Explore Ca&#8217;
