Fantin<\/strong>, a quaint little square, from where you\u2019ll see the entrance to\u00a0<strong>Fenice Theatre<\/strong>. Built in\u00a0<strong>1792<\/strong>, the\u00a0<strong>Fenice<\/strong>, meaning\u00a0<strong>phoenix<\/strong>\u00a0in\u00a0<strong>Italian<\/strong>, has often lived up to its name, just like the bird that rises from its ashes.\u00a0In fact it first burned down in\u00a0<strong>1836<\/strong>\u00a0and more recently in\u00a0<strong>1996<\/strong>, which has become one of the most tragic moments in modern\u00a0<strong>Venetian history<\/strong>.<\/p><p>However, both times it was rebuilt exactly \u201chow it was and where it was\u201d, just like a phoenix. The composer\u00a0<strong>Giuseppe Verdi<\/strong>\u00a0is most attached to the\u00a0<strong>Fenice<\/strong>\u00a0and to\u00a0<strong>Venetian memory<\/strong>, especially since, with his patriotic operas, he became a great symbol for the\u00a0<strong>Venetian struggle<\/strong>\u00a0against the\u00a0<strong>Austrians<\/strong>, who were ruling over the city in the\u00a0<strong>mid-19<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0century<\/strong>.<\/p><p>For\u00a0<strong>Venetians<\/strong>\u00a0the\u00a0<strong>Fenice<\/strong>\u00a0remains a\u00a0<strong>symbol<\/strong>\u00a0of\u00a0<strong>Venice\u2019s resilient\u00a0<\/strong>and<strong>\u00a0undying nature<\/strong>\u00a0as well as a classy place to enjoy a night out.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-da72d62 elementor-widget elementor-widget-spacer\" data-id=\"da72d62\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"spacer.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-spacer\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-spacer-inner\"><\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-acbfcc4 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"acbfcc4\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">San Mois\u00e8<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ab704c7 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"ab704c7\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The over-elaborate\u00a0<strong>baroque fa\u00e7ade<\/strong>\u00a0of\u00a0<strong>San Mois\u00e8<\/strong>, described as the clumsiest\u00a0<strong>Church<\/strong>\u00a0in\u00a0<strong>Venice<\/strong>, commands the attention of those walking towards\u00a0<strong>San Marco<\/strong>\u00a0from the\u00a0<strong>Accademia<\/strong>. Built in the\u00a0<strong>17<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0century<\/strong>\u00a0in full\u00a0<strong>Baroque style<\/strong>, the\u00a0<strong>fa\u00e7ade<\/strong>\u00a0is scattered with statues of\u00a0<strong>moral virtues<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>members<\/strong>\u00a0of the\u00a0<strong>Fini family<\/strong>, who funded the building of the fa\u00e7ade, effectively transforming this sacred space into a personal trophy. It was for this reason that\u00a0<strong>Ruskin<\/strong>\u00a0called it the most \u201catheist church\u201d in the world, and it is especially in contrast to the smooth smart looks of the\u00a0<strong>Hotel Bauer<\/strong>\u00a0next to it.
