Regulated colors<\/b>
<\/b>Have you ever wondered who decided to paint Burano\u2019s houses in such vibrant colors?<\/span>
<\/span>According to legend, it was the fishermen<\/strong> who started the tradition: when returning home through the lagoon\u2019s fog, they needed to recognize their house from afar. Even today, changing a house\u2019s color requires official permission: each shade must follow a predefined scheme.<\/span><\/p>

Burano lace, entirely handcrafted with needle and thread, was so exquisite that it was sought after by European courts in the 16th century<\/strong>. Today, you can still see lace-makers at work, living witnesses of a delicate and ancient art.<\/span><\/p>
